An innovative local community scheme designed to support Newham residents to take greater control over their own health has been showcased as an example of best practice at a national health conference.
Local people in Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest are set to benefit from improved maternity services, after local clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) were selected as ‘Maternity Choice and Personalisation Pioneers’ by NHS England.
Local people taking part in a new programme to tackle Type 2 diabetes will be supported to take greater control of their own health and to make healthier lifestyle choices to reduce their risk of developing the disease.
Newham’s army of unpaid carers will be able to find out about the support available to them during free events being staged across the borough as part of Carers Week.
