Public invited to attend local NHS annual general meeting
04 September 2017

NHS Newham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the organisation responsible for planning and buying most local health services, is inviting local people to attend its annual public meeting.

The meeting will take place on Thursday 21 September 2017, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Stratford Circus Arts Centre, Theatre Square, Stratford, London E15 1BX.

This event will bring together CCG staff, GPs, other local health and social care organisations, patients and the public. It will give local people the opportunity to hear about some of the work of the CCG during 2016/17 and look ahead to the year to come.

Key topics for discussion will include staying well and an update on the CCG’s plans for community involvement. It will also provide an opportunity to ask the CCG about our plans and our priorities for the year ahead.

In addition to presentations from Dr Prakash Chandra, Chair and Steve Gilvin, Chief Officer, former professional boxer Barry McGuigan will also address the AGM. Barry will talk about how the CCG has teamed up with the Barry McGuigan Boxing Academy to support local people to better manage their health and wellbeing.

Newham CCG’s annual report and accounts for 2016/17 will also be formally presented at the meeting.

Dr Prakash Chandra, a local GP and chair of Newham CCG, said: “Our annual public meeting is an opportunity to highlight some of the excellent work that took place during 2016/17, as well as giving an insight into how decisions made by Newham CCG impact on those that matter most, our patients.

“We are delighted to be joined by Barry McGuigan this year, and look forward to hearing about how the boxing academy is making a difference to the health and wellbeing of local people. We will also be outlining our latest plans for community engagement in Newham as we look at new ways of working closely with patients, the public and other health and social care providers.”
