Our primary care strategy
Here at NHS Newham CCG we are continually working to improve local health services and the health outcomes for the communities we serve. Our primary care strategy sets out how we will support the delivery of high quality primary care for residents of Newham. Our local strategy can be accessed here.
As we move forward with closer partnership working, as set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, our local primary care strategy has been further developed and incorporated into a wider primary care strategy for North East London. The North East London Primary Care Strategy can be viewed here.
Shaping services together
When we set out to make changes to local services we take account of the views of our local residents and service users to make sure that we get it right. In early 2020 two GP contracts, Lantern Health and Newham Transitional Practice, are due to expire and the CCG are required to put new arrangements in place to ensure the continuation of high quality local services for local people. The CCG is now following the process for selecting a new provider through a formal selection or ‘tendering’ process, which will result in awarding a new organisation or the existing organisation with a contract to manage the surgeries.
As part of the process the CCG conducted a number of patient engagement sessions and sent all patients a survey to complete, so that services users could share their feedback and help to shape the future services. This feedback is taken into consideration and used during the tendering process to ensure that the new provider takes this into account when deciding how to run the surgery so that the services and care provided best meet the needs of local people.
Following the engagement sessions the following reports were drafted to summarise the findings from the patient surveys.
